Steps
Ø Prelude to Inserting the
Arabic Numbers:
Ø NB:
Ø Before
Inserting the Arabic Numbers in your doc, You need to insert a page break in
your document to end/separate the pages which will carry the roman numbers (the
preliminary pages) from the ones that will carry the Arabic numbers(The Post
Preliminary Pages).
Ø
Ø Inserting Page Break:
Ø To
Insert the Page Break, Place the cursor at the Point/Section/Sentence that you
would like your Arabic numbers to start.
Ø In
the Document Formatting (From Scratch)
Template, I placed the cursor at the left side of CHAPTER 1)
Ø Click
>Page Layout
Ø Breaks
Ø Next
Page
At this stage, You
should notice the following.
·
The word CHAPTER 1 and all text below it
appear on separate page(s).
·
The preliminary page(s) will still carry
the roman numbers.
Ø Selecting the Arabic Number
Format:
Ø Click>Insert
Ø Page
Number
Ø Format
Page numbers…
Ø In
the Number format combo box, select “1,2,3,…” to select roman numbers., Start
at: “1”
Ø Ok
Ø Close
the Header & Footer-Design Tool bar
Inserting the Arabic Numbers:
Ø Click
>Insert
Ø Page
Number
Ø (Select
the position that you want to place your page numbers, In the Document Formatting (From Scratch)
Template, I selected-) “>Bottom of Page>Plain Number 3”.
At this stage, all the
pages In the Document Formatting
(From Scratch) Template, from CHAPTER 1 should have Arabic
numbered page numbers at the bottom-right most part of the pages, except those
of the Preliminaries.
Ø Close
the Header & Footer-Design Tool bar
NB:
Adding
pages (Either by inserting or by typing) before the page break [(page(s) before
CHAPTER 1 in our case] will add roman numbered pages in the preliminary pages
And Adding pages (Either by inserting or by typing) after the page break
[(page(s) after CHAPTER 1 in our case] will add Arabic numbered pages in the
preliminary pages
